Police are investigating the murder and attempted suicide of a woman and man on Saturday at around 18:30hrs at D’Urban Street, Lodge Georgetown. Dead is 43-y-o Nicola Wilson aka “Lisa” while her 50-year-old partner, Lawrence Brummel is hospitalised after reportedly consuming a poisonous substance.
Guyana Guardian was made to understand from the woman’s 14-y-o son, that his mother informed the suspect that he cannot accompany them to her sister’s birthday party, since he is not welcomed there. She had just returned from a church meeting.
The boy further related that after he dressed, he went outside and about five (5) minutes after he heard his mother screaming.
He returned to the house and saw the suspect armed with a knife, stabbing his mother who later fell to the ground on the back landing.
He raised an alarm and confronted the suspect who attempted to stab him but failed since he escaped.
He then saw the man exited the house running and made good his escape in his silver 212 motorcar
EMT from Central Fire Station responded and the victim was pronounced dead by a doctor.
Fourteen (14) stab wounds were seen to the upper part of the victim’s body. The suspected weapon was retrieved and the scene processed.
The deceased is presently stored at Lyken Funeral Parlour awaiting a PME.
As police investigations commenced, further inquiries revealed that the suspect returned to his home in Festival City where, his nephew stated, he confessed to committing the act.
The nephew further alleged that the suspect informed him that he had ingested a poisonous substance and that he was going to die. He gave the nephew some of his personal belongings with instructions of how to distribute same.
Despite his refusal, the suspect was assisted by relatives and taken to the GPHC where he was arrested and is under police guard.
He is unconscious and is presently receiving treatment at the Accident and Emergency Section. Wilson leaves to mourn her two children.
