Police on Monday reported an alleged homicide in the mining town of Linden in which 47-year-old Samuel De Souza was found dead.
De Souza, a labourer of Lot 50 Victory Valley, Wismar was found dead in a track leading to his home.
Police said their investigations have so far revealed that DeSouza, who lived alone, had an altercation with a female shortly before he was found dead.
The woman, along with her daughter, confronted De Souza who ran away through the track leading to his home.
Some thirty minutes afterward, two unidentified males came out of the said track and told the woman and her daughter that DeSouza was dead.
The Police, on arrival at the scene, observed that DeSouza was lying on his back and a wooden-handle spear was observed resting on his body with what appeared to be blood.
Three knives and a screwdriver were found in the deceased pants waist. His mouth and right ear had what appeared to be blood oozing. There were superficial bruises seen on the exposed parts of his body.
The scene was photographed and the three knives, screwdriver, and the wooden-handle spear have been lodged with the police.
DeSouza was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is presently stored at the Pensioner Funeral Home awaiting a post mortem.
The two females were arrested and placed into custody assisting the police in the investigation.
